books, CDs, video recordings, and web sites that make significant
contributions to our collections. In the various Core Collections we
indicate awards in the record.
How can you use this information?

Awards given often
indicates that a title is of particular merit.

|
Coupled with best
lists, awards can be used as support when a title is
challenged. |

|
These two
indications are also useful in arriving at decisions when
weeding. |
|
|
Using the Core
Collection Dewey or subject search option with an awards search
is helpful in collection development. |
